Anxiety attack symptoms in women are on the extreme end of anxiety symptoms. They are equal to someone having a strong phobic reaction.

Here is a list of anxiety attack symptoms in women: overwhelming panic, palpitations, fast heart rate, shortness of breath, a choking feeling, chest pain, nausea, shaking, feeling as if your legs will give way, sweating, dizziness, fear of going mad, fear of losing control, feeling detached or strange, feeling that you will pass out or faint or even die and you feel as if you want to escape or run away from where you are.

These symptoms are absolutely horrible. They feel dreadful, as if things could not be any worse. However, as bad as they feel they cannot harm you. They pass within a short period of time (up to 20 minutes). You will not pass out, have a heart attack, go mad or lose control.

It is really important to understand this when overcoming anxiety attack symptoms in women.

Anxiety attacks may happen in response to a certain situation. A common example is a public speaking phobia which affects many people. A person may have an anxiety attack in a place, e.g., sitting on a train and then may fear the same thing will happen again.

Many people will start avoiding situations because they fear another anxiety attack.

Anxiety attacks may just happen without a reason. This is very distressing as you feel no control over the attacks. This leads to feelings of continual tension and apprehension waiting for another anxiety attack. The main problem becomes the ‘fear of the fear’.

It is also the fact that they can happen anywhere, e.g., shopping, sitting in a restaurant, travelling or anytime that cause so much anxiety.

If you start avoiding all these places you can spend more and more time at home. This can lead to agoraphobia which is the fear of being out in the open or away from home.
