Discounting the positive is something we do which keeps us focusing on the negative.
Anxiety sufferers very often discount the times of the day when they feel better and even during these moments of relief focus and dwell on the anxiety suffered at other times of the day.
Often we do things extremely well but find reasons why it is not good enough.
Or even when we receive praise we often discount it and put ourselves down.
With this type of thinking we filter out the positive in order to focus on the negative.
When we focus our attention on the negative it affects our whole view of life and we feel much worse as a result.
